In plain English: Kruger Navigator is an offline app. It has no user accounts and no analytics or advertising trackers. Your saved places, routes and sightings live only on your phone. We can't see them, and we don't want to.
1. Who we are
Kruger Navigator ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent, offline-first companion app for visitors to Kruger National Park. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by SANParks. This policy explains how the app handles information.
2. Information the app does not collect
The app does not require an account and does not ask you to sign up or log in. We do not collect, store on any server, or sell:
- Your name, email address, phone number or other contact details
- Your location history or GPS tracks
- The places, routes, notes or wildlife sightings you save
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
3. Information stored on your device only
To do its job, the app stores certain data locally on your device. This never leaves your phone unless you choose to export or share it:
- Your places & routes. Pins, saved routes and imported map layers are saved as files in the app's own storage on your device.
- Preferences. Settings such as your chosen map options are stored locally.
- Wildlife sightings. Anything you log stays on your device.
If you delete the app, this on-device data is removed with it. It may also be included in your device's own iCloud/iTunes backup, which is controlled by your Apple settings, not by us.
4. Location
With your permission, the app uses your device's GPS location to show where you are on the map and to provide turn-by-turn navigation. This happens entirely on your device in real time — your location is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and no location history is uploaded. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings; the map still works, it just won't show your position.
5. Network connections
The app is designed to work fully offline. It makes only limited network requests, and only when you have a connection:
- Map & road data updates. The app periodically checks our content host (
data.krugernavigator.com) for updated road and closure data. This is an anonymous download of public map data. As with any web request, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard technical information such as your IP address to deliver the file; this is not linked to any identity by us.
The app contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics.
6. Sharing & exports
You are always in control of sharing. When you export a route or your saved places (for example as a KML/KMZ file or PDF), that file is created on your device and shared only via the destinations you select through the standard iOS share sheet.
7. Children
The app is a general-audience travel utility and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control of the data on your device and can delete it at any time by removing individual items or uninstalling the app.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, we'll update this page and revise the date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect in a new version of the app.
